LACO Presents Horizons Beethoven + Skye

Alex Theatre 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA, United States

HOW CAN WE DISMANTLE THE BARRIERS BETWEEN US? LACO presents music that unifies us during times of dissonance with the premiere of Derrick Skye’s multicultural exploration, To Be A Horizon, which engages in an endless pursuit of connection in order to deconstruct musical and cultural divides. Beethoven’s transitional Symphony No. 4 provides a contrast, celebrating Beethoven’s legacy of breaking musical boundaries. The featured performance of Tereza Stanislav is made possible, in part, with the generous support from Terri + Jerry Kohl and Ruth Eliel + Bill Cooney.  Additional support for SHOSTAKOVICH + SKYE provided by Carol Eliel + Tom Muller.

LACO Presents Departures: Montero + Mozart

WHERE WILL WE GO FROM HERE? LACO concludes the season with nods to the past and an eye towards the future. The world premiere of a Sound Investment commissioned piece by Nina Shekhar is complemented by Gabriela Montero’s rendition of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C major, his final symphonic work.
